Joanne began her illustrious career in the 1980s at the esteemed Theatre Royal Stratford, where she made history as the first ever black Principle Boy in pantomime. This groundbreaking achievement was merely the beginning of her remarkable journey. She went on to take the stage at the prestigious Belgrade Theatre in Coventry, solidifying her reputation as a talented performer.
Joanne was a proud founding member of the BiBi Crew, the pioneering company comprised entirely of black actresses. As part of this innovative ensemble, she co-wrote, produced, and toured several theatre productions, including the critically acclaimed shows "On A Level" and "But Stop, We've Got Work to Do". Her impressive television credits include appearances in "Parents and Teenagers" for the Open University, "Night Kids" (1983),"The All Electric Amusement Arcade" (1983),"Que Sera" (1984),"Copperfield Comedy and Co.", "Chalkface" (1991),"Birds of a Feather" (1989),and "The Bill" (1984). Additionally, she starred in two comedy series, "Me and My Girl" (1984) and "Us Girls" (1992).
Tragically, Joanne's life was cut short when she suddenly passed away from deep vein thrombosis, just as she was completing filming for her latest series, "UGetMe", in 2003.
