As she continued to hone her craft, Weldon's talents caught the attention of the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera Company, leading to a chance encounter with Warner Brothers, which would forever alter the trajectory of her career.
Warner Brothers, recognizing Weldon's exceptional abilities, decided to shift her focus from grand opera to the world of cinema, casting her in a range of dramatic roles, including the horse operas "The Command" (1954) and "Riding Shotgun" (1954),the crime drama "The System" (1953),and, most notably, the iconic "Big Bug" movie, 1954's "Them!" (1954).
Throughout her film career, Weldon consistently delivered powerful, non-singing performances, a testament to her remarkable range and versatility.
Amidst her busy schedule of film roles, Weldon still managed to find time to pursue her passion for music, singing at the iconic Hollywood Bowl, on her television series "This Is Your Music" (1955),and on tour in the beloved musical "The Music Man," a role she would reprise for three years as the repressed Marian the Librarian.
Today, Weldon resides in Manhattan with her husband, a true testament to her enduring talent and dedication to her craft.
