Biography

Jo Nesbø is a globally acclaimed crime writer, celebrated for significantly expanding the boundaries of contemporary crime and thriller fiction. His literary output has garnered a plethora of prestigious international awards, with sales exceeding forty million copies worldwide, and translations into a staggering fifty languages. Notably, his writing repertoire encompasses not only the renowned Harry Hole series but also standalone novels such as Headhunters and The Son, as well as a collection of children's books within the Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder series.

Prior to embarking on a writing career, Nesbø had a promising future in professional soccer, only to be forced to retire due to a knee injury. This unexpected turn of events led him to pursue alternative creative outlets, including music. He discovered a latent talent for songwriting and co-founded the Norwegian band DiDerre, which rapidly ascended to become one of the country's most revered musical acts.

In the late 1990s, Nesbø was approached to write a documentary about a tour in Australia, but instead, he found himself penning his debut novel, "Flaggermusmannen," which marked the beginning of the Harry Hole series.
