Jo Morrow's life began in Cuero, Texas, but her early years took a dramatic turn when her parents relocated to San Diego, California, where her father pursued a career in aircraft manufacturing and her mother nurtured Jo's budding passion for acting. As a young child, Jo entered a contest touted as a chance to become a star, but what initially seemed like a sham ultimately led to a 20th Century-Fox contract, marking her film debut in the 1958 movie Ten North Frederick alongside the legendary Gary Cooper. Morrow's subsequent move to Columbia Studios set the stage for a promising acting career.
However, the arrival of a deaf daughter in 1964 brought an unexpected twist, forcing Morrow to make a difficult choice between her thriving movie career and her maternal responsibilities. In the end, motherhood won out, and Morrow stepped away from the spotlight, only to make a comeback of sorts in the 1970s with appearances in low-budget exploitation films such as Doctor Death: Seeker of Souls (1973) and Terminal Island (1973).
