Biography

Jimmy Hanley, a naturally affable British actor, was carefully nurtured by the esteemed Rank Studios system during his formative teenage years, ultimately blossoming into a teen heartthrob as the quintessential "boy next door" type in effervescent musicals and charming comedies.

In 1942, Jimmy tied the knot with talented actress Dinah Sheridan, with whom he would co-star in a string of lighthearted war-era films, including the 1942 production "Salute John Citizen" and the 1945 release "For You Alone". As he matured, Jimmy experimented with a wide range of roles, from the 1944 historical epic "Henry V" alongside the illustrious Laurence Olivier to the popular "Huggetts" film series.

However, it was radio and television that ultimately revitalized Jimmy's star in the late 1950s, making him a familiar face on numerous television series, including the notable "Jim's Inn" alongside his second wife, Maggie Hanley, which aired from 1957 to 1963.

Tragically, Jimmy's life was cut short when he succumbed to cancer in 1970.
