Jim was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, a city known for its rich history and maritime culture, and spent his formative years in Calgary, Alberta, a bustling metropolis surrounded by the majestic Rocky Mountains. With his reserved demeanor, strong work ethic, and exceptional talent, he has established himself as a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, boasting a multifaceted career that spans over a decade.
Growing up in close proximity to the Rocky Mountains, Jim was trained to be an elite ski racer, competing at the international level until his early twenties. After retiring from the sport, he secured a job in the art and set decoration department on the massively successful Fox series "The X-Files". It was during this time that he met Chris Carter and David Nutter, who gave him his first acting role on the groundbreaking Fox pilot "Millennium" in 1996.
Most recently, Jim had the privilege of playing the supporting lead role of "Studs Terkel" in the Lifetime Original movie "ROBIN ROBERTS PRESENTS: MAHALIA", starring Danielle Brooks and directed by Kenny Leon. This project is currently nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie.
Throughout his career, Jim has amassed an impressive resume, with notable roles including a series regular for two seasons on Showcase's hit series "Paradise Falls" in 2001, a series regular on the first season of the award-winning Showcase series "Blackstone" in 2009, and a major recurring guest star role on SyFy's hit thriller "Helix" in 2014 as Caleb. He has also guest-starred on multiple shows, including CW's "SUPERNATURAL", FOX's "Fringe" in 2008, The CW's "Smallville" in 2001, USA's "Psych" in 2006, CTV's "Degrassi: The Next Generation" in 2001, CTV's "Motive" in 2013, and CBC's "Republic of Doyle" in 2010. SyFy also took note of his talents, casting him in "Continuum" in 2012 and "Merlin and the Book of Beasts" in 2009.
Jim's film credits include the feature film "DEAD RISING: ENDGAME" starring Jesse Metcalfe, "The Deal" in 2005 with Christian Slater and Selma Blair, the Ole Bordenal thriller "The Possession" in 2012 with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick, and a lead role in "The Tree That Saved Christmas" in 2014 with Lacey Chabert.
