Biography

Jim Bywater is a renowned British actor and musician, whose most notable role to date has been that of Wilf Starkey in the esteemed television drama, Coronation Street. Prior to his rise to fame, Bywater was an integral part of Belt and Braces, a leftwing political theatre company founded by Gavin Richards, where he actively contributed to the company's mission during the 1970s and 1980s. Moreover, he was a key member of the Belt and Braces Roadshow Band, which released music during the same decade, showcasing his multifaceted talents beyond acting. It was during this period, in 1976, that Bywater crossed paths with his future wife, the accomplished actress and broadcaster, Jeni Barnett, while they both starred together in a production of Belt and Braces.
