Vincent Riccio, better known as Jidge Carroll, was born in Belleville, New Jersey, and embarked on a remarkable career that spanned nearly six decades. He initially gained recognition by winning numerous times on Arthur Godfrey's Talent Show, showcasing his exceptional vocal talents. As the featured male singer with Les Brown's Band of Renown in the 1940s, Jidge traveled extensively throughout the United States, performing alongside Les and the band, as well as the renowned female lead singer, Doris Day.
Under the stage name Jack Carroll, Jidge also had the privilege of singing with the esteemed bands of Tex Beneke and Sammy Kaye. Following his service in World War II with the US Army, Jidge returned to the entertainment scene, becoming a popular night club performer and in-demand demo singer. He performed in clubs along the East Coast, recording demos for iconic artists such as Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra, as well as for numerous Broadway musicals.
Jidge's impressive career milestones also include co-starring roles in notable films like Sam Fuller's Forty Guns alongside Barbara Stanwyck and Gene Barry, and Seven Days Leave with Lucille Ball and Victor Mature. Furthermore, he was the featured singer in various commercial spots for prominent brands such as Progresso Soup, Burger King, Kodak, and Perrier.
Throughout his life, Jidge remained married to his loving wife, Frances Riccio, for over 60 years, residing in New Jersey until his passing at the age of 83. Even in his 80s, Jidge continued to make occasional demos, a testament to his enduring passion for music and his remarkable longevity in the entertainment industry.
