Born and raised in the vibrant city of San Antonio, Texas, James Borrego's early years were marked by a passion for the performing arts. He pursued his interest in theatre and dance at The University of Incarnate Word, while also honing his acting skills at The California Institute of the Arts.
The 1980s saw Borrego take a significant leap in his career when he auditioned for the popular TV series "Fame". His impressive performance earned him the coveted role of Jesse Velasquez, a character he would portray for an impressive three years.
However, Borrego's talents were not limited to television. He continued to appear in stage productions, including notable performances at the esteemed Joseph Papp Theatre in New York City and The Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.
In addition to his work on stage and screen, Borrego has also made a name for himself behind the camera. He co-founded Lupita Productions in 1990, which has since produced a range of theatrical productions, concerts, and short films. Two of the company's most notable projects include the 16mm short films "El Sueño de Simon" (1993) and "Flattime" (1995),directed by James Borrego and Jimmy Santiago Baca respectively.
Throughout his career, Borrego has consistently demonstrated his versatility and resilience as a performer, producer, and director. Whether in front of the camera, on stage, or behind the scenes, he remains one of the most talented and enduring figures in the entertainment industry.
