Jerry Carlsson, a talented individual, was born in Piteå, a charming town located in the northern region of Sweden. He pursued his passion for filmmaking by graduating from Valand Academy in 2014, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Independent Filmmaking, along with a specialization in Director & Producer. Prior to his undergraduate studies, Jerry also took courses in Art History at Stockholm University and Basic Filmmaking at Dramatiska Institutet in Stockholm.
Following his undergraduate degree, Jerry furthered his education by completing his Master of Fine Arts in Film at Valand Academy in 2015. His impressive academic achievements did not go unnoticed, as he has since become a renowned filmmaker, with his award-winning short films being showcased at prestigious international film festivals, such as the Locarno Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival.
Jerry is also a co-founder of the film collective and production company Tjockishjärta Film, which has allowed him to collaborate with like-minded individuals and produce innovative content. In 2015, he co-founded the production company Verket Produktion with Anette Sidor, marking another significant milestone in his professional journey.
That same year, Jerry was selected to participate in the European Film Promotions program "FUTURE FRAMES: Ten filmmakers to follow" at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and he also attended the Berlinale Talent Campus. This recognition further solidified his reputation as a talented and promising filmmaker.
In 2016, Jerry Carlsson was selected for the prestigious STHLM Debut program and received the Carl Larsson Grez-sur-loing scholarship, acknowledging his outstanding work and dedication to his craft.
