Biography

Jeremy Sims is a multifaceted and influential figure in Australian artistic life, exceling as an actor, director, and producer across various mediums, including theatre, film, and television. Throughout his illustrious career, he has directed an impressive five feature films, over forty hours of television, and has garnered two prestigious AACTA/AFI awards.

In 2006, Jeremy produced and directed the film Last Train to Freo, which received three AFI Award nominations, including Best Actor. This marked the beginning of his successful trajectory as a filmmaker.

Fast forward to 2010, Jeremy's second feature, the WW1 epic Beneath Hill 60, earned twelve AFI Award nominations, five IF Awards, and eight FCCA Awards, including nods for Best Director and Best Film across all three awards.

Jeremy's accomplishments did not go unnoticed, as he was awarded the esteemed Alfred P Sloan Feature Prize at the Hamptons International Film Festival.

In 2014, his film Last Cab to Darwin, which he co-wrote, was a critical and commercial success, garnering thirteen AACTA (AFI) award nominations, with four cast members receiving best actor nods, and Michael Caton winning for his lead role as Rex.

Jeremy's most recent film, Rams, starring Sam Neill, Michael Caton, and Miranda Richardson, was released in 2020 and received multiple AACTA award nominations, ultimately becoming a worldwide hit.

In addition to his film work, Jeremy has directed multiple seasons of the internationally acclaimed period drama 'A Place to Call Home,' as well as the 8-part medical rescue series RFDS for Endemol/Shine and the 6-part series Back To The Rafters for Amazon.

Currently, Jeremy has four feature films and two television projects in development, including two features in late-stage development with Screen Australia, slated to begin production next year.
