Biography

Jerell Rosales is a multifaceted Asian/Filipino-American and LGBTQ+ writer/director who has made a significant impact in the film industry.

His directorial debut, High School Lover, a feature-length film, boasts an impressive cast, including Paulina Singer, Lana Condor, and François Arnaud, and was released by Lionsgate Home Video.

As a talented screenwriter, Jerell has won the prestigious Humanitas Prize and has been recognized as a directing fellow in Film Independent's Project Involve and the Blackmagic Breakthrough Initiative.

His most recent work, The Terrorist, received a Jury Award Honorable Mention at the 2020 Austin Film Festival, a testament to his skill and dedication to his craft.

Jerell is driven by a passion to tell stories that showcase diverse characters navigating the complexities of the world, often through struggles and triumphs.

Born to a military family, Jerell spent his childhood moving from base to base, from Japan to Ohio, before settling in the Southern California's Inland Empire, where he proudly calls home.

A graduate of UCLA's MFA Directing program, Jerell is now based in Salt Lake City, where he serves as the Assistant Professor in Cinematic Directing at Utah Valley University.
