Biography

Jenny Purple is a Brooklyn-born actress and singer who began her career at the tender age of four, when she stole the show with a puddle that appeared at her feet during a two-hour play. By the time she was seven, she was writing and performing her own original plays, including an unauthorized sequel to the Broadway hit "Annie", produced by the renowned Mike Nichols.

As a precocious teenager, Jenny started performing stand-up comedy along the East Coast, using borrowed ID to sneak into shows and gain experience. After graduating from the New Actors' Workshop in New York, she honed her craft under the guidance of Paul Sills, founder of the Second City improv company, and George Morrison, a well-known drama coach.

Jenny's studies also took her to the feet of film director Mike Nichols, with whom she spent two years learning the ropes. She also had the privilege of studying with sitcom veteran Mort Scharfman, a double Emmy award-winner for his work on "All in the Family".

In addition to her theater studies, Jenny earned graduate credits in writing and acting through Antioch University, all while working towards her ultimate goal of making it big in Hollywood. And make it big she did, as she finagled her way into writing internships on several TV shows, including sitcoms and sketch-comedy programs.

Jenny's big break came when she landed a role in the low-budget horror film "Evil in the Bayou" (2003),which can be rented or purchased online. Today, she continues to perform in various sketch-comedy shows around Los Angeles, including "The L.A. Zoo", "Joni and Gina's Lesbian Wedding", and "The Next Stage's Berubians".

Jenny is also a founding cast member of the Tiny Bandeleros and recently launched her own political-satirical review, "Sketchy White Men", which she co-wrote, produced, and appeared in. The show runs on Saturday nights at The Next Stage Theater in Hollywood until September 6, 2003.

As she continues to perform her famous characters, including Kelli the Geeky School Girl, Mercedes who married a Martian, Gladys the soul-less Soul Train Dancer, and Charlette the Starlet, Jenny Purple is sure to remain a force to be reckoned with in the world of comedy and entertainment.
