Jennia Fredrique Aponte is a renowned writer/director acclaimed for her distinctive visual flair and fearless creative vision, particularly in the realms of production and costume design.
Born in Gary, Indiana, Jennia pursued her passion for filmmaking at Columbia University and honed her artistic skills at the Art Institute in Chicago. Her exceptional talent and dedication earned her a coveted spot among the select 15 participants in the prestigious Sony Director's Program, a year-long directing intensive that provided her with the opportunity to apprentice under esteemed directors, including Randall Einhorn, while he was working on the 1970s-themed series The Kids Are Alright.
Jennia's initial two short films, Sacred Heart and 90 DAYS, garnered widespread recognition and accolades by being accepted into numerous prominent film festivals, including the esteemed Cannes and SXSW. 90 DAYS, a powerful film that tackles the stigma surrounding HIV, has been hailed as "a cinematic masterpiece that confronts the human experience of overcoming one of life's greatest perceived challenges" and has received multiple awards, including an African Academy Award.
Jennia describes herself as a meticulous director who takes a holistic approach to filmmaking, preferring to have a hands-on role in all aspects of the creative process to ensure a cohesive and powerful theme throughout.
In addition to her individual projects, Jennia and her husband, Sol Aponte, are co-founders of the production company, Full Frequency Media, which has been responsible for creating and developing Sacred Heart, 90 DAYS, and Amazon Prime's Beyond the Talent, featuring a diverse range of artists, including Kevin Hart, T-Pain, Akon, Far East Movement, Estelle, Les Twins, and Miguel. The company has also produced the Anatomy series, a four-part docu-series for Sean "Diddy" Combs on REVOLT TV.
