Jeffery McMichael Brookshire, a multifaceted writer/director and editor, brings a unique intensity, diversity, and focus to the table with his work on Awaken The Dead. His writing style is heavily visual, allowing him to effortlessly transition into directing. For him, it's all about "bringing the story to life" and making the viewer feel immersed in the world he's created.
His background in drawing comics has proven to be a valuable asset, as it has honed his perspective and visualization skills, allowing him to craft detailed storyboards for his films. In fact, his storyboards for Awaken The Dead alone span over eighty pages. His experience as a DJ and compilation mixer has also given him a keen ear for music, which he heavily incorporated into the making of Awaken The Dead.
As a firm believer in the importance of a director's imprint on a film, Jeff was actively involved in every aspect of the production process, from music selection to casting, location scouting, wardrobe, and props. However, he is also quick to acknowledge that the film would not have been possible without the collaboration and support of every member of the cast and crew.
Driven by his passion for storytelling and character development, Jeff formed an open and balanced rapport with his cast and crew, fostering a sense of unity and cooperation throughout the production process.
Born to a minister, Jeff has moved frequently throughout his life, calling Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, Germany, Tennessee, Florida, Ohio, and finally California home. This experience has taught him the importance of adaptability, a skill he honed further through his degree in English Literature and Film.
After a lifetime of writing and a stint in upper management, where he developed his organizational and leadership skills, Jeff turned his focus to Hollywood. He wrote Looking for Prince Charming for Taylor Made Productions in 2006 and went on to produce, write, direct, and edit Awaken The Dead as the first in a series of iconic movies from Silver Storm Productions.
Jeff's film influences include some of the most iconic directors in the industry, including Stanley Kubrick, Ridley Scott, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Luc Besson, and Sergio Leone.
