JD's formative years were marked by a tumultuous upbringing in North Jersey and Hell's Kitchen, where he developed a rich inner life as a means of coping with the challenges of poverty and a large family. Growing up in a small, run-down house with three sisters, JD's imagination became his primary source of solace, as he spent countless hours disassembling pens and dolls to understand their inner workings, thereby nurturing a passion for storytelling and the human experience.
Throughout his career, JD has established himself as a prolific and highly sought-after screenwriter, having sold over a dozen screenplays to major Hollywood studios such as Warner Brothers, Disney, New Line, Miramax, Paramount, and Twentieth Century Fox. His impressive résumé includes rewrites and punch-ups on numerous projects, as well as serving as a creative consultant on several successful films. Notably, several of his movies have gone on to become Hollywood blockbusters, earning well over a billion dollars at the box office.
JD's television credits are equally impressive, with deals in place with Fox, Big Ticket, and Spelling Entertainment. While he has worked in various genres, his expertise in comedy has earned him the praise of none other than Mel Brooks, who has referred to JD as "one of the greatest comic minds I've ever had the pleasure to work with." Additionally, JD has collaborated with comic book legend Stan Lee since 2002, creating new comic book series and cementing his status as Lee's protégé.
