Biography

Jay Underwood's biography:

Jay Underwood's acting career spans over two decades, with a diverse range of roles in film, television, and theater. Born in the San Francisco Bay area, Underwood began his theatrical pursuits in high school, eventually earning his "big break" in the 1986 film "Desert Bloom," opposite Annabeth Gish and Jon Voight.

He went on to appear in numerous films, including Sundance Film Festival participants "Dancing in September," "Valerie Flake," and "Possums." His other notable film credits include "The Fantastic Four" as Johnny Storm, "Uncle Buck," and "The Boy Who Could Fly," which remains his personal favorite.

On television, Underwood had the opportunity to portray Sonny Bono in "The Sonny and Cher Story" and "Not Quite Human" as the lovable android Chip. He also appeared in various other TV shows, including "Miracles," "X-Files," "E.R.," "The West Wing," "Star Trek Voyager," and "Millennium."

Underwood's theater credits include studying and performing at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and the Minneapolis Children's Theater Company. In Los Angeles, he appeared in "Grand Junction" and "Fortune in Men's Eyes" at the Coast Playhouse, as well as "The Lion in Winter" at the Pasadena Playhouse.

After starting seminary in 2003, Underwood became a youth pastor and later a full-time pastor in a small northern California mountain town. He now lives with his wife, six children, and pets in "God's country."
