Jay Michael Ferguson's journey in show business began at the tender age of six, when he was cast in a regional production of Peter Pan in Oklahoma. Growing up in the state, he went on to star in, and eventually direct and produce, numerous theater and television productions across the region. His first film appearance was at the age of nine, and by the time he was 15, he had set his sights on a career in film and television shows and commercials.
Throughout his early years, Jay Michael appeared in a wide range of projects, including Twister, Rescue 911, Rise and Walk: The Dennis Bird Story, Saved by the Bell, Possums, Irish Whiskey, the Emmy Award-winning children's series Wordscape, Real Stories of the Highway Patrol, and many others.
In 1995, Jay Michael returned to his hometown to participate in Broadway Sings for the Heartland, a benefit concert to raise money for the victims of the Oklahoma City Bombing. He had the privilege of working alongside esteemed talents such as Ben Vareen, Sandy Duncan, and Ed Harris.
In 1997, Jay Michael had the honor of collaborating with the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, as a producer of the "Children's Charity Ball", the first annual benefit from her American-based charity, Chance for Children.
Several years ago, Jay Michael began teaching film and acting, and has since traveled internationally with his acclaimed workshop, "Show & Business", which he co-created with his partner, Ricki Maslar. They have also been invited to lecture at several prominent universities, including UCLA's film school.
