Jaume Collet-Serra's life journey commenced on March 23, 1974, in the vibrant city of Barcelona, situated within the autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. At the tender age of 18, he made the bold decision to relocate to the City of Angels, Los Angeles, where he enrolled at Columbia College Hollywood. Simultaneously, he honed his editing skills, working on various projects as a means of gaining valuable industry experience.
Upon completing his studies, Collet-Serra transitioned seamlessly into the world of music video direction, impressing numerous production companies with his innovative vision. This early success led to a slew of high-profile commercial directing gigs for renowned brands such as Playstation, Budweiser, Mastercard, and Verizon.
Fast-forward to the present, and Collet-Serra has established himself as a versatile and accomplished filmmaker, boasting an impressive resume that includes directing and producing a range of feature films. Some of his notable credits include the critically acclaimed psychological thriller The Shallows (2016),the chilling horror film Orphan (2009),and the gripping action-thriller Unknown (2011).
