Jared Turner was born on April 12, 1978, in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. His family relocated to Sydney, Australia, in 1980, where he spent his childhood in the western suburbs.
After completing his education, Jared Turner graduated from Theatre Nepean, University of Western Sydney in 2000 at the age of 22. He began his acting career in numerous theatre productions, both in Australia and abroad, as well as local TV drama, All Saints, in 1998.
Jared's breakthrough role came in 2004 when he landed a lead part in the award-winning New Zealand feature film, Fracture. Upon returning to New Zealand, he made guest appearances in the acclaimed comedy-drama, Outrageous Fortune, in 2005, followed by regular roles in the TV series, Go Girls, in 2009.
In 2011, Jared was cast in one of the lead roles for the international hit show, The Almighty Johnsons, playing the human incarnation of Hod, the Nordic God of all things dark and cold. He has since become a well-known figure in New Zealand, appearing in numerous local film and television productions over the last several years.
Most recently, Jared was a member of the lead cast in the new Australian drama, Secret Daughter, in 2016, alongside Australian pop music sensation, Jessica Mauboy. He has also appeared in numerous international productions, including "30 Days of Night" in 2007, "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" in 2009, Spartacus in 2010, and as Slanter, the leader of the Gnome rebellion in MTV's hit fantasy series, The Shannara Chronicles, in 2016.
