János Szász, a renowned Hungarian film and theater director, was born in the vibrant city of Budapest in 1958. He embarked on a journey of artistic discovery, pursuing a degree in drama and stage direction at the prestigious Academy of Theater and Film Arts. This marked the beginning of a remarkable career that would span decades.

Szász's early years were spent honing his craft at the National Theater Budapest, where he spent four significant years perfecting his skills. During this period, he directed several notable stage productions, including the iconic "Ghosts" by Henrik Ibsen, the fantastical "The Deer King" by Carlo Gozzi, and the classic "A Streetcar Named Desire" by Tennessee Williams.

In addition to his work in theater, Szász also ventured into the world of filmmaking and television. His impressive feature film repertoire includes the 1990 release "Szédülés", the 1994 production "Woyzeck", and the 1997 film "The Witman Boys". Furthermore, he directed a documentary for the Shoa Foundation, a project that garnered significant attention and acclaim.

One of his most notable and emotionally charged projects was the documentary "Eyes of the Holocaust" (2000),a powerful and poignant exploration of the experiences of the children of the Holocaust.
