Janeen Avery was born and raised in Bryan, a small town in Northwest Ohio, where she spent her formative years before venturing out to pursue her passions. After completing her high school education, Janeen escaped to Heidelberg College, situated in another small town in Ohio, to major in communications with a focus on television production. During her college years, she honed her skills as a cameraman, videographer, and audio/video technician for the college TV station, as well as a DJ for the college radio station. During the summer months, Janeen interned at a Fox television affiliate in Toledo, Ohio, where she gained valuable experience working at a small market TV station, including the thrill of holding a large Snoopy balloon during a parade and enjoying free tickets to a WWF show featuring Hulk Hogan.
After graduating from college, Janeen relocated to Buffalo, New York, where she worked various restaurant jobs to make ends meet. However, she soon landed a job as a production assistant at Adelphia Cable (now Time Warner),where she enjoyed working on various projects, including running camera and editing highlight films for the Empire Sports Network's Hockey Hotline, as well as contributing to the Marv Levy, Ted Nolan, and Thurman Thomas Show(s). Although being a production assistant for a local cable company did not provide a lucrative income, Janeen was forced to explore other job opportunities.
It was during this period that Janeen met Adam, and she began her journey with DefTone by serving as a "model" for the Gore credits. She then worked as a makeup artist for the day of 300 extras on the Angola set of the film Final Night and Day, as well as providing craft services for the production. Janeen's talents extended to writing, as she co-wrote the Black Guy on a Rampage trilogy, worked as a makeup assistant on the Black Guy shoots, and produced all three films. She also co-wrote and produced the short film "Caged," co-wrote "Ombis," and served as an executive producer on that film, as well as providing craft services and assisting Phill and Jill with makeup. With her passion for filmmaking and her dedication to her craft, Janeen is thrilled to be a part of the DefTone family and looks forward to seeing where the future takes the company.
