Jane Sowerby has had a distinguished career as a working actor in film and television, spanning over three decades. Her journey in the entertainment industry began with a rigorous education at The American Academy Of Dramatic Arts in New York, followed by a master class at the renowned Ivana Chubbuck Studio in Los Angeles and Vancouver, British Columbia.
In 2011, Sowerby was selected as one of eight directors to participate in the prestigious Women In The Director's Chair program. Her impressive directorial debut, the 23-minute comedy short film "Jane Post", which she wrote, directed, produced, and starred in, garnered six Leo Award nominations, including Best Short, Best Screenwriter, and Best Director. Sowerby went on to win the award for Best Performance By A Female In A Short Drama.
Beyond her work in film and television, Sowerby is also a talented singer-songwriter. She co-founded the original country/rock band ONE UGLY COWBOY in Toronto, showcasing her impressive vocal range and songwriting skills. In 2023, Sowerby received a nomination for Vocalist of the Year/Country Rock/Southern Rock at the esteemed Josie Music Awards, held at the iconic Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee. Her band, ONE UGLY COWBOY, was also nominated for Group Of The Year.
