Jim, born in 1946 in Los Angeles, was destined for a life in the spotlight, with a passion for movies and acting that began in grade school. He landed parts in local LA television plays, laying the groundwork for his future endeavors.
As he grew older, Jim attended the University of Southern California, where he honed his skills in film and editing, and simultaneously took acting classes at the University of California, Los Angeles. This well-rounded education would serve him well in his future pursuits.
The mid-1970s saw Jim open a Mexican restaurant in San Luis Obispo, California, marking the beginning of a long and successful entrepreneurial career in the food industry. He went on to open numerous restaurants and food ventures, all while pursuing higher education and earning a PhD in Psychology.
Jim's love for science fiction films led him to collaborate with Larry Blamire in the early 2000s, resulting in the production of Trail of the Screaming Forehead. This was followed by his own sci-fi story, Alien Trespass, crafted with RW Goodwin.
As he continued to open new restaurants, including Acme Ice Cream and several others, Jim also found time to collaborate with Susan Kucera on Breath of Life and Living in Future's Past, starring Jeff Bridges. The third installment in the documentary series, 12th Hour, is currently in production.
Today, Jim resides in Wickenburg, Arizona, where he recently opened yet another restaurant. He is the proud father of two children, Thomas Cody and Laura Lacy-Shane, and continues to be a driving force in the world of science fiction and filmmaking.
