Biography

James Naughton is a renowned Irish-American actor, singer, and director, born on December 1, 1945, in Connecticut, to a pair of school teachers. He is the older brother of actor David Naughton.

Naughton's early interest in singing developed during his high school years, performing in various events. He later attended Brown University and the Yale School of Drama, making his off-Broadway debut in 1971 with a Theatre World Award for his portrayal of "Edmund" in "Long Day's Journey Into Night".

Naughton's Broadway debut came in 1977 with "I Love My Wife", followed by "Whose Life Is It Anyway?" in 1980. He received a Tony Award for his work in the musical "City of Angels" in 1989 and again for his role in the revival of "Chicago" in 1997.

In addition to his stage work, Naughton has appeared in numerous TV shows and films, including the TV movie "Look Homeward, Angel" and the college dramedy "The Paper Chase". He has also had recurring roles on shows such as "Ally McBeal", "Gossip Girl", and "Hostages".
