James Crow is a renowned English writer and director from Kent, who has established a remarkable career as an independent film writer across a diverse range of genres, with his works being acquired by prominent distributors such as Lionsgate and Studio Canal. His inaugural feature film as writer, GBH (Riot),boasted an impressive cast, including the legendary Steven Berkoff, and garnered recognition at both the London Independent Film Festival and the European Independent Film Festival. Moreover, the film won the prestigious Best International film award at the Underground Cinema Festival in Ireland, preceding a limited theatrical release and subsequent availability in stores nationwide, where it maintained a top 5 position on the Virgin Media Player for over a month. The film was later re-released by Lionsgate the following year.
Since then, James has written the inaugural installment of the He Who Dares action franchise, which was prominently featured on the front page of IMDb's hottest new trailers. He has also penned the narrative for the WW2 action film Allies, starring Julian Ovenden and Matt Willis. James's first solo venture as director was the short anti-drink driving black comedy Countrycide, which made the judges' shortlist at the Theatre Royal Margate as part of the 2 Days Laughter Festival, with Vanessa Stevenson receiving a nomination for Best Actress. This was swiftly followed by Among Angels, which was nominated for Best Matinée Film at the 10th Anniversary of 2 Days Later.
James's subsequent short horror film, Death Machine 666, was selected among the top 5 films in the Colchester 48 Hour Film Challenge and went on to compete for Best Film at the Colchester Film Awards 2013. Moreover, James made his debut as a theatre writer and director with his first play, Vampires, Witches & Antidepressants, which received six award nominations and won the Best Costume award.
