James Boss, the eldest of two children, was born in the iconic city of Hollywood, California, and spent his formative years in Hacienda Heights, California, surrounded by the loving influence of his Korean American parents, Sun Kim and Young W. Kim.
From a tender age of six, James embarked on a journey of self-discovery through martial arts training, laying the foundation for his future endeavors. Upon completing his high school education, he enrolled at The Art Institute of Los Angeles to pursue his passion for graphic design. However, his artistic inclinations soon took a dramatic turn as he began acting at the renowned Howard Fine Studio, honing his craft under the guidance of the esteemed Ivanna Chubbuck.
In a bold move, James furthered his education by relocating to Seoul, South Korea, where he immersed himself in the world of theater at the prestigious Seoul Institute of the Arts. This decision would prove to be a defining moment in his career, as he co-directed his first play, "Liar Reversal," to widespread critical acclaim in 2011.
James's foray into the world of film began in 2010, when he starred and directed the action-packed post-apocalyptic movie "White Wall," set in a dystopian society. The film's worldwide release marked a significant milestone in his career, paving the way for his future projects.
Between 2012 and 2017, James wrote, directed, and acted in three short films that garnered numerous awards and nominations at prominent film festivals around the globe. His work has been praised for its innovative approach, seamlessly blending elements from both the South Korean and Hollywood film industries.
