Jake's childhood in Vermont was marked by a passion for snowboarding, with frequent visits to Bolton Valley and Stowe, where his technical skills and daring aerial stunts earned him a reputation as a force to be reckoned with in slopestyle and halfpipe competitions throughout his teenage years.
As his talent and confidence grew, so did his competitive prowess, and by the age of 17, Jake had already claimed a major victory at the prestigious U.S. Open in 2004, catapulting him to the forefront of the snowboarding world.
This triumph led Jake to relocate to Mammoth and then Tahoe, but it was his eventual move to Bellingham and the nearby Mt. Baker, the deepest resort in the contiguous United States, that truly became his spiritual home.
It was at Mt. Baker that Jake honed his skills in the backcountry, where an endless array of lines and natural terrain allowed him to push the boundaries of his creativity and imagination.
Throughout the following decade, Jake collaborated with prominent snowboard companies such as Forum, Absinthe, and Snowboarder Magazine, producing award-winning video parts that solidified his status as one of the sport's elite riders.
However, it was his solo film project, Naturally, that truly cemented Jake's place among the snowboarding elite, showcasing his mastery of both style and substance.
Eventually, Jake returned to his native Vermont, where he resides with his wife, Kristin, an organic/holistic chef and restaurant owner, and their young daughter, Nell.
In addition to his snowboarding pursuits, Jake is a devoted family man, and his free time is often spent tending to his own garden, practicing yoga, and engaging in carpentry and soccer.
Jake and Kristin also co-founded the Mountain Light Project, a non-profit organization that partners with the American Alpine Institute to provide free youth avalanche and backcountry education to children and young adults, promoting a culture of safety and responsibility in the mountains.
