Jahmil Eady is a multifaceted creative force hailing from Charleston, South Carolina, and New York City, where she skillfully fuses genre with socially impactful storytelling. This talented writer-director recently concluded her tenure at the prestigious American Film Institute's DWW+ program, where she brought her short film, Hatchlings, to life.
Eady's academic credentials are equally impressive, having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Studies from Pomona College and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In fact, she was the inaugural Graduate Class Artist, representing over 14,000 Bruins in the class of 2023.
Furthermore, Eady has been recognized as the Princess Grace Foundation's inaugural Sir Roger Moore Honoree in Filmmaking, a testament to her outstanding talent and dedication to her craft.
Prior to her current focus on scripted storytelling, Eady began her career in unscripted film and television, serving as an associate producer on documentary projects for prominent networks such as the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN),Viceland, and Discovery Networks.
Collectively, her award-winning short films have been screened at over 50 film festivals worldwide, including several Academy Award-qualifying and BAFTA-qualifying film festivals. Her work has also received support from esteemed organizations such as Tribeca Institute, Chanel, Film Independent, and NFMLA NewNarratives.
Currently, Eady is a director for Indeed and Hillman Grad's Rising Voices Season 5, further solidifying her reputation as a rising star in the film industry.
