Biography

Jacques Nolot, a renowned stage and character actor, was born on August 31, 1943, in Marcillac, France. His career in film began with the feature film L'arrière pays, released in 1998, which garnered immense recognition and accolades. The film won the First Film Special Distinction Award at the Montreal World Film Festival and a FIPRESCI Special Mention Award at the Venice Film Festival, both in 1998. Additionally, L'arrière pays earned a nomination for Best New Director of a Feature Film at the César Awards in 1999.

Nolot's subsequent film, The Eagle with Two Heads (1948),received widespread critical acclaim. Prior to his feature film work, he had shot the short film Manège in 1986 and penned several screenplays, including I Don't Kiss (1991),La Matiouette (1983),and Guys in the Cafe (1988),all of which were directed by notable filmmakers.

Nolot made his acting debut in Hotel America (1981) and has since appeared in numerous films, including Viva la vie (1984),Scene of the Crime (1986),Les innocents (1987),and Nénette and Boni (1996).
