Jack Piandaryan's journey in the American film industry commenced in 1984 as a projectionist at an independent sound post-production facility, formerly known as Danny Harris / JDH Sound, inc. This marked the beginning of a remarkable career spanning over three decades. In 1987, Piandaryan joined forces with his fellow coworkers, sound engineers, and sound mixers to form a new facility, which later became part of Skywalker Sound South, a division of Skywalker Sound / Lucasfilm Ltd. at 3000 Olympic Blvd. in Santa Monica.
During his tenure at Skywalker Sound South, Piandaryan introduced a new standard in studio screening systems and was instrumental in the implementation of Tom Kobayashi's simplified post-production method utilizing digital telephone technology "Tie-Line". This innovative approach enabled editors and mixers at Skywalker Ranch to playback completed work pictures interlocked with sound to directors and producers in Skywalker Sound South. This breakthrough allowed for seamless collaboration and real-time feedback, revolutionizing the post-production process.
In 1997, Piandaryan joined 20th Century Fox's projection department on the lot, where he worked for approximately eight months. Despite the brief tenure, he made a lasting impact by introducing a new higher standard for screenings at the studios, paving the way for future innovations.
Skywalker Sound South, which operated in Santa Monica from 1987, underwent several name changes, eventually becoming Todd-AO Studios West, Liberty Media, and then CSS Studios. Piandaryan remained an integral part of the organization until 2007, during which time he worked on various projects, including his own film, "The Parallel", through his production company Piandaryan Films, LLC. The film was released in 2007.
Piandaryan continued to work as a projectionist/sound assistant at two Todd-AO facilities in Studio City and Santa Monica, as well as a freelance projectionist at Jerry Bruckheimer Films in Santa Monica and Deluxe Laboratories in Hollywood, until 2010. Today, he is employed at Coast-to-Coast Marketing Advisors, LLC, and Piandaryan Films, where he is preparing his upcoming film projects.
