Jack Lyon, a remarkable individual, was one of the very last remaining men who played a crucial role in the historic mass breakout, commonly referred to as "The Great Escape", from the infamous Stalag Luft III prisoner of war internment camp in the early months of 1944.
As a vital member of the escape team, Jack Lyon took on the important responsibility of serving as a lookout during this extraordinary event. Unfortunately, the tunnel used by the escapees was discovered before he had the opportunity to make his own escape.
Despite this setback, Jack Lyon's involvement in the Great Escape remains an important part of his remarkable life story. He lived to the ripe old age of 101, finally passing away on March 8th, 2019.
