At the tender age of five, he embarked on a martial arts journey, training in various styles of Kung Fu, followed by Judo, Karate, Tang Soo Do, and boxing under the guidance of several esteemed masters in his hometown of Tainan City, Taiwan. This early start was driven by a singular purpose: to protect himself from the relentless bullying he faced in his daily life.
As he grew older, his skills and accomplishments began to earn recognition. In 1982, he emerged as the all-Taiwan Teenage Nunchaku Champion, a title that marked the beginning of a successful competitive career. The following year, he was handpicked by the Taiwan Government to represent the country at the prestigious US Presentation to the Ronald Reagan Government event in Washington, D.C., and 13 other states.
In 1987, he achieved another milestone by winning the World Cup's "Middle Weight" title in sparring at the Los Angeles Open, a feat that capped off his high school education at Blair High School in Pasadena, where he shared classes with renowned film director John Singleton.
After relocating to America, he had the privilege of training under some of the most respected figures in the martial arts world, including Dan Lee, a close disciple of the legendary Bruce Lee, and Steven Chang, a master of Wing Chun. He also studied under Delon Tan, a renowned Tae Kwon Do practitioner, John Wong, an expert in Wu's Tai Chi, and Franco Lung, a respected Wing Chun practitioner.
