Biography

Jack H. Harris, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, embarked on a show business career in vaudeville at the tender age of six, singing and dancing alongside Cliff Edwards' (aka "Ukelele Ike") Kiddie Revue. With a strong work ethic, Harris gradually ascended the ranks, starting as a theater usher before transitioning into publicity and distribution, ultimately opening his own offices. However, Harris grew disenchanted with the limited scope of black-and-white films he was presented with, and his creative impulses drove him to produce his own movies. This led him to collaborate with the visionary filmmakers at Pennsylvania's Valley Forge Film Studios, resulting in the groundbreaking sci-fi horror film, The Blob, in 1958, which astoundingly grossed over a hundred times its modest $240,000 production budget. Since then, Harris has continued to build upon this early success, directing and producing a diverse array of films, including 4D Man (1959),Dinosaurus! (1960),Eyes of Laura Mars (1978),a sequel to The Blob, Beware! The Blob (1972),and a remake, The Blob (1988).
