Jack Fisher, President of FilmRise, embarked on his directing career with the feature documentary "A Generation Apart", a poignant film that explores the profound impact of the Holocaust on families of survivors. This critically acclaimed film has been broadcast on PBS and internationally, garnering widespread recognition.
Fisher's feature film directing debut was with Torn Apart (1990),a romantic drama that tells the story of an Israeli soldier who falls in love with a Palestinian woman. The film boasted an impressive cast, featuring Adrian Pasdar and Cecilia Peck, daughter of the renowned Gregory Peck, in her first screen appearance. Torn Apart premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and was subsequently exhibited theatrically worldwide. The film has been broadcast on Cinemax, released on Home Video through Warner Bros., and aired on the Romance Classics channel.
Fisher's feature documentary Unforgotten: Twenty-Five Years After Willowbrook (1996) has received numerous accolades, including the National Educational Media Network's Gold Apple Award and the Grand Prize for best documentary at the Atlantic City Film Festival. This powerful documentary was a finalist at the Media Access Awards and was selected as an official entry in the Chicago International Film Festival.
Over the past two decades, Fisher has directed numerous television commercials and corporate videos. His television commercial credits include a public service announcement for HeartShare, produced through Grey Advertising, featuring Danny Aiello and John Turturro, as well as an anti-bigotry public service announcement for the Anti-Defamation League, featuring Jason Alexander.
Fisher co-founded City Lights Media, a company that produced 63 TV shows, dozens of movies, and was one of the largest post-production facilities in the country, within a three-year period.
Currently, Fisher is working on creating proprietary channels for his company, FilmRise, one of the fastest-growing digital distribution companies in the world. He is also developing a dramatic project for television titled Manic.
