J. Robert Wagoner, a distinguished individual, was born in the Tar Heel State of North Carolina, where his father, a preacher, instilled in him a strong sense of moral values. With a passion for music, Wagoner earned a trombone scholarship to attend Alabama State College for a year, where he honed his skills and explored his artistic side.
After serving four years of active duty in the United States Navy, Wagoner decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, specifically in acting. He made his way to the Big Apple, where he studied acting and performed in various plays on 42nd Street, showcasing his talents to a wider audience.
Eventually, Wagoner returned to his alma mater in North Carolina to further his education, this time majoring and minoring in English. Upon graduating in 1967, he embarked on a dual career in both film and television, as well as dedicating his time to the esteemed Peace Corps.
Throughout his illustrious career, Wagoner's most notable achievement was directing the feature film Disco Godfather (1979),starring the legendary Rudy Ray Moore.
