Biography

J. Kenneth Campbell's illustrious acting career has spanned decades, taking him from the bright lights of Broadway to the silver screens of feature films and the small screens of television. His extensive filmography boasts a wide range of titles, including Bulworth, Ulee's Gold, Guess Who?, Mars Attacks, and The Abyss. Most recently, Campbell wrapped up filming for director Kevin Willmott's upcoming feature, The Only Good Indian, in which he takes on a lead role alongside the renowned Wes Studi, known for his performances in Avatar and The Last of the Mohicans.

In addition to his film work, Campbell has made numerous appearances on television, with credits including Commander in Chief, Frasier, Charmed, Melrose Place, Ally McBeal, Picket Fences, Matlock, L.A. Law, and many other notable series.

Born in 1947 in Flushing, New York, Campbell is the second of seven children. He was raised on Long Island and graduated from Cheshire Academy in Connecticut. However, it was during his time at The University of Arizona that Campbell discovered his true calling. Despite the lure of a college degree, he opted to forgo the security it offered and instead entered The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater to hone his craft under the guidance of the esteemed Sanford Miesner.

In 1967, the Selective Service Act required non-academic acting students to register for the draft, and Campbell found himself drafted into the U.S. Army during the middle of his second year at the Playhouse. He responded by joining the Marines, where he was wounded in action. After a period of recuperation, Campbell returned to the Playhouse and completed the program, emerging with a newfound sense of purpose. Since then, he has worked tirelessly in the entertainment industry, appearing on stage, in film, and on television.
