Biography

Ivan Mistrík, a renowned Slovak actor, was born on October 15, 1935, in Bratislava, and passed away on June 8, 1982, in the same city. He was the brother of actor Ján Mistrík and was married twice, first to Helena Kollátová, a singer, with whom he had two sons, and later to Mária Klesniaková, also a singer.

Mistrík's acting career began when he studied at the State Conservatory from 1949 to 1951. He then worked as a cultural promotional officer for Slovnaft, a member of the Village Theater in Bratislava, and a drama actor at the Jozef Gregor Tajovský Theater in Zvolen, before joining the drama department of the New Stage from 1953 to 1966.

From 1966 until his death in 1982, Mistrík was a drama actor at the Slovak National Theater in Bratislava. In addition to his work on stage, he was also a prolific radio actor, performing in the Radio Acting Company since 1946 and creating dozens of boy characters.

Mistrík's film career spanned over three decades, with his first role dating back to 1951. He appeared in numerous Slovak and Czech films, playing a range of characters. He also had a successful television career, creating over 100 characters in various productions, including The Ballad of Vojta Marina, The Dead Don't Sing, The Bloody Star of Canaris, and many others.

Throughout his career, Mistrík was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the arts. In 1977, he was awarded the title of Merited Artist.
