Ismael Kanater, a multitalented individual, hails from the vibrant city of Casablanca, Morocco. With a strong foundation in the arts, he holds a degree in Drama from the esteemed Casablanca Conservatory of Drama and Dance, as well as a degree in Film-Making from the renowned Rhode Island School of Design.
Throughout his illustrious career, Kanater has made a name for himself as a stage writer and director. He has had the privilege of working at prestigious Off-Broadway theaters, including the iconic La Mama E.T.C. Most recently, he collaborated with the Washington Shakespeare Theatre Company and the esteemed South African writer and director, Yael Farber, to create a unique adaptation of the classic play, Salome.
Kanater's artistic endeavors have not been limited to the stage. He has now set his sights on the world of film, having recently completed a screenplay for a captivating story titled "Cowboy." This poignant tale follows the journey of a 15-year-old Moroccan boy, nicknamed Cowboy due to his passion for Westerns, as he navigates his life from the Atlas Mountains to El Paso, Texas. With his rich cultural heritage and extensive experience in the arts, Ismael Kanater is sure to bring a unique perspective to the world of film.
