Isha Talwar is a multifaceted film and television actress with a rich background in modeling and dance. Born to Vinod Talwar, a director and executive producer for Boney Kapoor in Bollywood, she was raised in Mumbai and graduated from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, in 2008.
Prior to her film debut, Talwar worked as a model, appearing in 40 commercials for renowned brands such as Pizza Hut, Vivel Fairness Cream, Dulux Paints, and Dharti Fairness Cream. She also featured in a music video with Hrithik Roshan for the Just Dance competition.
To prepare for her film debut, Talwar spent two years honing her craft, taking a four-month voice training class, learning Malayalam, and picking up the guitar. Her dedication paid off when she made her debut in the 2012 Malayalam film "Thattathin Marayathu," where she played Aisha, a Muslim girl in love with a Hindu boy. The film became a blockbuster and was listed by Rediff in their "Top five Malayalam films of 2012."
Despite receiving criticism for having little to do in the film, Talwar was pleased with her "girl next door" image and the significant recognition she received from the role. Her second film, "I Love Me" by B. Unnikrishnan, featured her as the female lead alongside Asif Ali and Unni Mukundan, and she described her character, Samantha, as having "shades of Grey."
Talwar then made her debut in Telugu cinema with "Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde" in 2013, which received a positive response. She followed this with her first Tamil film, "Thillu Mullu 2," a remake of the 1981 Tamil comedy film. Additionally, she appeared in the Amazon Prime web series "Mirzapur."
