Biography

Isabelle Yasmine Adjani, a renowned actress, was born in Gennevilliers, Hauts-de-Seine, a suburb of Paris, to a multicultural family. Her father, Mohammed Adjani, was a Kabyle Algerian from Iferhounène, and her mother, Emma Augusta "Gusti" Schweinberger, was a Bavarian German. This unique cultural heritage had a significant impact on Adjani's upbringing, as she grew up speaking German fluently.

At a young age, Adjani's passion for acting was evident. She began acting in amateur theater by the age of 12, after winning a school recitation contest. Her professional career in film commenced at the age of 14, when she starred in the motion picture Le Petit Bougnat (1970). Since then, she has appeared in over 30 films.

Throughout her illustrious career, Adjani has received numerous accolades and awards. She holds the record for the most César Award for Best Actress, with a total of five wins. These awards were given for her outstanding performances in films such as Possession (1981),One Deadly Summer (1983),Camille Claudel (1988),Queen Margot (1994),and Skirt Day (2008). Additionally, Adjani was awarded a double Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Award in 1981.
