Irene James, a Detroit, Michigan native, was born to a family of Greek immigrants, making her the eldest of three daughters. In 1942, her family relocated to Santa Monica, California, where her father, a shrewd entrepreneur, acquired and managed The Brenshire, a motel situated on the prestigious Wilshire Boulevard.
Irene's academic pursuits led her to graduate from University High School in Westwood in 1944. Following her high school graduation, she embarked on a career in Hollywood, spending eight years as a stunt woman and extra, gaining valuable experience in the entertainment industry.
In 1962, Irene made the bold decision to relocate to Palm Springs, where she would go on to own and operate IJ's, a popular bar and restaurant situated on the esteemed property of the renowned El Mirador Hotel. The club, which became a hotspot for many celebrities, unfortunately closed its doors four years later.
Presently, Irene James resides in Palm Springs, California, where she has made a lasting impact on the community through her entrepreneurial spirit and warm personality.
