Biography

Ioan Gruffudd, a talented individual, was born on October 6, 1973, in the vibrant city of Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom, to educators Gillian James and Peter Gruffudd. He has a younger brother, Alun, who is two years his junior, and a younger sister, Siwan, who is seven years his junior.

Ioan's journey in the world of entertainment began at the tender age of 13 when he landed a role in the Welsh soap opera Pobol y Cwm in 1974. He then went on to attend the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art from 1992 to 1995, where he honed his craft and prepared himself for the challenges that lay ahead.

Following his time at the Royal Academy, Ioan was cast in the title role of the television remake Poldark in 1996. He then played the role of John Gray, the lover of Oscar Wilde, in the film Wilde in 1997. His portrayal of Fifth Officer Harold Lowe in the blockbuster film Titanic in 1997 brought him widespread recognition and acclaim.

Ioan's subsequent roles cemented his status as a leading man in the film industry. He played the title role in the Hornblower series of television movies between 1998 and 2003, and then brought Pip to life in the big-budget BBC production of Great Expectations in 1999. His other notable film roles include 102 Dalmatians in 2000, Black Hawk Down in 2001, King Arthur in 2004, Amazing Grace in 2006, Fantastic Four in 2005, and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007.
