Igal Hecht created Chutzpa Productions Inc. in 1999. Over his twenty-year career, he has produced and directed over fifty documentary films and twenty television series. His films have been screened nationally and internationally on various platforms, including Netflix, Prime, BBC, and HBO Europe.
Igal's work includes editing and producing "The Story of Furious Pete," which premiered at the 2010 Hot Docs Film Festival. He also produced and directed "The Hilltops," which premiered at the 2011 Hot Docs Film Festival. His award-winning documentary "A Universal Language" pushed the limits by bringing comedy to the Middle East. Other notable films include "The Sheik," which premiered in 2014 at Hot Docs, and "My Home," which won him best director and best film awards at several film festivals.
Igal has also worked on television series, including "Muzika," which aired nationally in the US and Canada for four seasons, and "A Woman's Story," a documentary series that aired on numerous channels and received critical acclaim. He created and produced the six-part documentary series "Daughters of Eve," which premiered on Yes-TV Canada and has been showcased internationally.
Between 2017 and 2020, Igal produced and directed three television series, including "House of God," a 52-part documentary series that aired nationally in Canada on YES-TV, "Buskers," a 13-part series about street performers around the world, and "Holy Art," a four-season series that explored the art scene in Israel.
In 2021, Igal released his ten-part series "The Wilderness," which has been showcased in Canada, the US, Australia, and the United Kingdom. He also released his new series "Path To Creation," about artists across Canada, which has been picked up for seven seasons. His new film "The Jewish Shadow," which explores the lives of Soviet Jews in 1970's Ukraine, is set to come out in the fall of 2023.
Igal's upcoming projects include the release of his new series "Secrets of the Land," which explores the world of science and archaeology, and "In Those Days," a six-part documentary series about the history of the arc of the covenant. He is also the director, editor, and producer of the feature film "Quest for the Throne of God," starring Kevin Sorbo, which is set to come out in the fall of 2023.
