Biography

Ian McCulloch is a Scottish actor renowned for his distinctive sandy hair and authoritative appearance, having gained widespread recognition through his pivotal performances in several cult television and film productions.

He initially rose to fame as the central figure, Greg Preston, in Terry Nation's beloved BBC television series Survivors (1975),a narrative revolving around a genetically engineered germ plague that nearly eradicates the entire global population.

Subsequently, McCulloch appeared in a series of notoriously violent Italian-made horror films from the early 1980s, which were part of the "video nasty" controversy in the UK. He played the male lead in the Romero-inspired Zombie (1979),also known as "Zombi 2," directed by Lucio Fulci, in which he battled the living dead once more in Zombie Holocaust (1980),aka "Dr Butcher MD," directed by Marino Girolami.

McCulloch then took on interplanetary invaders in the Alien (1979) rip-off Contamination (1980),directed by Luigi Cozzi.

Following his stint in the world of horror, McCulloch returned to BBC television, where he played a villain in Warriors of the Deep: Part One (1984),a role that has left a lasting impression on cult television enthusiasts, particularly due to the inclusion of a quite possibly the most unconvincing monster in the history of the series.
