Ian Kessner, a renowned filmmaker, was born in Montreal, Canada, and later relocated to New York after completing his degree in Cinema Studies from the University of Western Ontario.
He then pursued his passion for filmmaking by attending NYU's summer film program, where he directed the film "Gone Fishin'". The film premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival and went on to secure distribution and travel the world.
Ian's success in the film industry led him to sign with Viacom, where he co-created the TV series "Twisted Puppet Theater" for Showtime and "The Dopes" for MTV. He also wrote, directed, and produced music videos for E!'s Fashion Week and the episode "No Fear" for Broadway Video/Comedy Central's Musical Shorts.
During this period, Ian collaborated with NY indie filmmaker Amos Poe on the screenplays "Generous Heart Inc." and "Chaotica". He then developed, directed, and produced the demo for David Blaine's "Street Magic" and served as a consulting producer on the subsequent ABC Special.
In 1998, Ian moved to Los Angeles and directed the re-shoots of Wes Craven's "Carnival of Souls" for Trimark Pictures and the 35mm short "The Puzzle", which premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival and won the 1998 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival for "Best Short".
Ian graduated with his Directing MFA from the American Film Institute in 2002. His thesis film "Pack Of Dogs" premiered at the Palm Springs Film Festival and is currently being distributed by Hypnotic Films. It won the 2002 FotoKem Production award.
Ian is currently developing a number of projects, including "Leopard In The Sun", which he is producing with Muse Film's Chris Hanley, and the feature "Glow", based on the real-life story of ecstasy kingpin Sean Erez.
Ian is also working on his latest script, "One Flesh", a supernatural tale of possession and past lives, which he is polishing.
