Biography

The illustrious career of a renowned filmmaker began in high school, where he started performing on stage and screen. This marked the beginning of a long and storied journey, as he went on to appear in over 120 hours of television and 14 feature films, working with esteemed directors such as Fred Schepisi, John Duigan, and Dusan Makavejev.

Some of his notable film credits include "The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith" (1978),"Mouth to Mouth" (1978),"The Odd Angry Shot" (1979),"The Coca-Cola Kid" (1985),"Evil Angels" (also known as "A Cry in the Dark"),and "Malpractice".

In addition to his work as an actor, he also turned his attention to direction, attending the Australian Film Television and Radio School to specialize in screen direction. Upon completing his diploma, he began working on pre-production for the telefeature "Double Sculls", produced by Richard Brennan.

Since then, he has directed a wide range of projects, including the mini-series "Snowy" and "Bordertown", as well as the multi-award-winning "Phoenix" and "Water Rats". In 1992, he served as the set-up director on the PRO Films/Fremantle Corporation production "Black Beauty", which went on to win the International TV Programmers' Award at the 1994 New York Festival.

He has also directed pilots for several series, including "Newlyweds", which ran for four seasons, and "Heartbreak High", as well as episodes of "Tales of the South Seas", "Flipper", "BeastMaster", and "The Lost World". In 2001, he directed the Paramount telemovie "Code Red", and in 2002, he directed the 3-hour mini-series "Bootleg" for the BBC and Burberry Productions.

"Bootleg" went on to win the BAFTA for Best Children's Drama, as well as the Logie and ATOM awards. He has also directed episodes of the multi-award-winning series "Mortified" and two Movies of the Week for the Sci Fi Network.
