Ian is a talented writer-director who has made a name for himself in the film industry with his unique storytelling style and direction. Born and raised in a small town, Ian always had a passion for storytelling and filmmaking. He began his career in the industry by writing and directing short films, which quickly gained recognition and accolades.
Ian's first feature-length film, "The Way We Speak", is a modern cautionary tale that has received critical acclaim. The film stars Patrick Fabian, a 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee, and has been compared to the work of Aaron Sorkin. The film has a rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and has won several awards, including the Outstanding Writer of a Narrative Feature at the 2024 Anchorage International Film Festival.
Prior to "The Way We Speak", Ian wrote and directed three award-winning short films, "Pinwheel Horizon", "The Devil Needs a Fix", and "From the Sky". "Pinwheel Horizon" is a minimalist sci-fi/fantasy film set on a barren planet, which won several awards at the 2023 Accolade Global Film Competition, including the Award of Excellence for Directing, Lead Actress, Ensemble Cast, and Editing.
"The Devil Needs a Fix" is a dark comedy with an edge, which was praised by American Cinematheque as "deliciously intriguing". The film played at several festivals, including HollyShorts, and was named one of Film Shortage's favorite fantasy short films of 2018.
Ian's first short film, "From the Sky", is an Arabic-language narrative thriller that won the International Humanitarian Award grand prize at the 2014 Rhode Island International Film Festival. The film aired on PBS and was featured in MovieMaker magazine.
