Biography

H.M. Wynant's remarkable career began at the tender age of 19, when he left his hometown of Detroit, Michigan, after spending only two years at Wayne State University. With a mere $125 in his pocket and a burning ambition, he arrived in New York City, ready to take on the world. It was at this pivotal moment that Jerome Robbins, the renowned choreographer, took notice of Wynant's talent and hired him on the spot at his first audition for the Broadway musical "High Button Shoes" starring the legendary Eddie Foy.

This marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career in theater, which would see Wynant work alongside some of the greatest names in the industry, including Katharine Hepburn, Rex Harrison, Lilli Palmer, Laurence Olivier, Shirley Jones, and David Wayne. His performances garnered widespread critical acclaim, leading to a prolific career in motion pictures and television.

In 1956, RKO Pictures took a chance on Wynant, casting him in a co-starring role in the western "Run of the Arrow" (1957),despite never having seen him perform. At the time, he was known as Haim Weiner, but the film's director, Samuel Fuller, changed his name to H.M. Wynant, a moniker that would stick for the rest of his career.

Wynant's early days in Hollywood were marked by his versatility, as he formed as a wild Indian and performed many of his own stunts. This budding film career was soon complemented by a successful television career, as he appeared in numerous live, dramatic shows.

In addition to his work in film and television, Wynant continued to hone his craft on stage, with recent performances in Los Angeles including the lead role in "Karlaboy", a suspenseful ghost story written by screenwriter Steven Peros. He has also worked with esteemed directors such as Jules Aaron, and continues to be active in the entertainment industry, with a wide range of credits in film, television, commercials, radio, and voice-overs.

Wynant's personal life is just as impressive as his professional one. He is the proud father of three grown sons, all of whom have followed in his footsteps and achieved success in the show business. His eldest son, William Winant, is a professor and avant-garde percussionist, while his middle son, Scott Winant, is an Emmy-winning producer and director. His youngest son, Bruce Winant, is an actor and singer who has appeared on Broadway, as well as in film and television.

H.M. Wynant currently resides in Southern California with his wife, Paula, and their young daughter, Pasha, born in 2000.
