Hesham, a multifaceted individual, was born in Egypt and later relocated to the United States in 1990 to pursue his passion for anthropology. However, his academic journey took an unexpected turn when he discovered his affinity for photography, leading him to switch his major to filmmaking.
He enrolled in film school at Columbia College/Chicago and graduated in 1996. Upon completing his studies, Hesham began his career in the film industry by working at local television stations in Chicago.
In 1997, he co-produced the documentary "Saving the Sphinx" (1998) for the Learning Channel, marking the beginning of his foray into documentary filmmaking.
In 1999, Hesham made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles, where he established himself as a freelance editor.
His breakthrough as a writer and director came in 2002 with the short film "The Interrogation" (2002/I),which garnered widespread acclaim, including the Best Creative Short Film award at the New York Film Festival and the Best Music Score award at the California Film Festival.
The following year, Hesham co-wrote and directed the short film "T for Terrorist" (2003),which won the Best Short Film award at both the Boston and San Francisco Film Festivals.
In 2008, he co-wrote and directed his first feature film, "AmericanEast" (2008).
Four years later, Hesham wrote the screenplay for "Cairo Exit" and began shooting the film in April 2010. The movie was released in 2011 and premiered at various film festivals, including the Dubai Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Munich Film Festival, and Malmo Film Festival.
Hesham's latest project, "EL Taman, The Price," was shot in 2014 and is set to be released in 2015.
